About Us

Founded in 1933, North Idaho College (NIC) is a comprehensive community college located on the stunning shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene. NIC offers more than 100 degrees and certificates in a wide spectrum of academic transfer and career and technical education programs. Approximately 6,000 students are enrolled in credit classes and more than 4,400 participate annually in non-credit courses.

NIC's beautiful main campus is located lakeside and serves a five-county region through outreach centers in Bonners Ferry, Kellogg, and Sandpoint, as well as through online offerings. NIC plays a key role in the region's economic development by preparing competent, trained employees for area businesses, industries, and governmental agencies.


NIC's main campus rests on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene, along the Spokane river.
NIC's graduation is marked by a unique tradition called the Commencement Walk.
NIC has a nursing program and a wide spectrum of health profession programs.
NIC offers more than 40 career and technical education programs.
NIC has its own beach and offers group fitness, outdoor pursuits, and recreational sports.
NIC regularly offers free fine arts performances in Boswell Hall, Schuler Performing Arts Center.
NIC has a stunning campus just five minutes from downtown Coeur d'Alene.
