About Us

For over four decades, we have been a freestanding, community nonprofit hospice governed by a board of community volunteers, ensuring our services are accessible to everyone. We provided community palliative care, hospice, and grief support to Kootenai, Shoshone, South Bonner, and Benewah Counties. We believe in the hospice philosophy of walking beside our patients and families, assuring a peaceful, compassionate end-of-life journey. Through our support groups, we provide support services for those dealing with grief and loss, from young children to seniors. We have the only inpatient hospice unit, our “Schneidmiller House,” in the state, recently expanded with 21 beds for those patients needing intensive pain or symptom management during their end-of-life journey. We believe very strongly in our mission and caring for everyone regardless of their circumstances. We provide spiritual care for patients and families, community and facility education, outreach engagements, and volunteer opportunities.

''With open hearts and expertise, we serve the seriously ill and those touched by loss.''
