About Us
Our Foundation was founded with a dual purpose. Our primary area of focus is supporting the mental health and wellbeing of First Responders in Kootenai County. We maintain a directory on our website of pre-screened preferred providers who have specific experience and expertise helping First Responders and their families. We provide both referrals and funding for these services for any First Responder in Kootenai County. We maintain absolute confidentiality during the process. No information is ever passed on to Departments or Agencies unless directed by the First Responder. As of March 2023, we have helped over 35 First Responders from 7 different agencies with therapy payments and referrals. We want to expand this program to include more Kootenai Agencies and additional areas of wellness.
Our second area of focus is helping children in our community through programs such as our annual hospital toy drive and the Holidays and Heroes holiday shopping program. The Hospital Toy drive began in 2015 after a member of our department who spent the holiday season with his infant son at Sacred Heart. While there, they received a small gift. He was so touched by that gift that he decided to start a toy drive to ensure every family could enjoy that small happiness during their stay. The drive has grown significantly over the years with help from community partners such as Walmart, Les Schwab, and the Idaho Forest Group. Our toy drive now provides toys/gifts for Kootenai Health and Sacred Heart Children's Hospitals to distribute year-round and not just during the holiday season.
